Rachel Schroff Grandstrand ’13 played an integral role in the most successful era of Connecticut College women’s volleyball. During her four seasons the Camels posted an overall record of 84-26 and qualified for the NESCAC Championship each year. As a senior in 2012, she led Conn to a 25-4 record and the program’s first ever NESCAC regular season title and NCAA Championship berth.

Grandstrand is the only student-athlete in program history to win the NESCAC Player of the Year award, earning the honor in 2012. That same season, she wrapped up an outstanding senior campaign as a first team All-NESCAC recipient and an AVCA All-Region and All-America honoree. A team captain and Anita L. DeFrantz Award winner, she finished her collegiate career with the second-best hitting percentage and fourth-most kills in program history.

Grandstrand served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in human development. She later earned a master’s degree in nursing from Northeastern University and currently works as a nurse practitioner at Beth Israel Lahey Health. She lives in Dover, Mass., with her husband, Paul, and their son, Samuel.
