Connecticut College Athletic Hall of Fame
A two-sport standout, Sam E. Landau '87 captained both the field hockey and lacrosse teams as a senior. He led the field hockey team in scoring each season and broke several Conn scoring records, including season goals (19) and points (40). Landau graduated as Conn’s all-time leading scorer with 37 career goals and 81 career points and was a regional All-America selection in 1986.

In addition to representing the Northeast at the National Hockey Festival (1984, 1985, 1987-90) and National Lacrosse Tournament ((1987-89), Landau competed internationally on the U.S. team and won a silver medal at the 1993 Maccabiah Games in Israel.

After graduation, Landau entered the coaching profession and has served as head coach of field hockey and lacrosse at Wellesley College since 1992. He has brought both of his programs to national recognition and prominence.
Under Landau’s direction, Wellesley teams have won 11 combined conference championships, and the field hockey team won the 1998 ECAC Championship. He has been selected conference coach of the year nine times and was named 1995 New England Division III Coach of the Year after guiding Wellesley’s field hockey team to the NCAA Tournament Final Four.
