He most notably set single-season school records for goals (17) and points (47) by a defenseman during his senior campaign, earning All-ECAC South First Team and Division III All-New England Team laurels in 1990 for his efforts.

In addition to being a key contributor to a program which finished with a winning record throughout his three-year career, Pecknold helped propel the Camels to the ECAC South Semifinals in 1988 and 1989 and the conference title in 1990. He has been recognized as the Spencer Penrose National Coach of the Year, College Hockey News National Coach of the Year, AHCA National Coach of the Year, and the ECAC Hockey Tim Taylor Coach of the Year for leading the Bobcats to several NCAA Tournaments, including the national championship game multiple times, and accumulating more than 500 victories.

Pecknold, who has also coached with USA Hockey at the IIHF World Championships, resides in Southport, Connecticut with his wife, Nikki, sons, Tate and Rex, and daughters, Cecelia and Georgia.
