Catherine Menges Zagunis was a four-year member of the swimming team and finished first in New England in the backstroke during her senior year.

She took up rowing in her senior year and earned a spot on the U.S. World Team in 1974. The following year she owed at the World Championship in the Coxed Four and finished fifth.

In 1976 she competed at the Montreal Olympics in the Coxed Four and finished sixth.
