Dr. Cliff Larrabee has had a tremendous impact on numerous Conn student-athletes as a coach, advisor, mentor, friend, and source of inspiration. As coach of the swimming teams from 1980-88, he produced eight winning seasons, including an undefeated 11-0 record in 1985-86. Two of his swimmers qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships with one earning All-America Honorable Mention.

Coach Larrabee welcomed all ability levels to his squad and created a team environment as every swimmer on the squad took part in each meet.

For more that 20 years, Larrabee has volunteered as a throwing coach for the men’s and women’s track and field teams at Conn. He coached the college’s first men’s and women’s NESCAC hammer champions; and several of his throwers have met NCAA Division III qualification standards, including one who earned All-America honors.

Dr. Larrabee himself was an active hammer thrower for 37 years, winning the Connecticut championship three times and placing second at the National Junior Championships. For many years, he has volunteered as a throws official at track meets throughout New England. In 1995, he was the Conn Athletic Department’s Chait Service Award recipient.
