Tim Walsh ’12 was one of the most dominant swimmers to compete at Connecticut College. A nine-time All-American and 12-time NESCAC champion, his excellence in the backstroke helped put the Camels in the national spotlight. Over his career, Conn College cracked the top 25 in the CSCAA National Poll three times and recorded program-best finishes at both the NESCAC Championship and NCAA Championship.
Walsh began his storied career by winning individual titles in the 50, 100 and 200 back at the 2009 NESCAC Championship. He repeated the feat in both 2011 and 2012 and finished his career with 10 individual titles, two runner-up finishes and NESCAC Championship records in all three events. He was also a two-time NESCAC relay champion, and in his final season he became just the second Conn College swimmer to be named NESCAC Four Year High Point Swimmer. At the time of his graduation he held seven school records.
Walsh qualified for the NCAA Championship in all four seasons and became the first male swimmer in school history to record a top-8 finish on the national stage. He turned in his top performances as a junior in 2011, finishing runner-up in the 100 back and third in the 200 back.
Walsh also excelled in the classroom, where he was a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-America honoree and a Capital/One CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in 2012. The male recipient of the prestigious Anita L. DeFrantz Award, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and economics and moved on to become a chartered financial analyst. He spent four years at AMG National Trust Bank and three years at ITG before taking his current position at Virtu Financial in analytics product management.
