Connecticut College Athletic Hall of Fame
The first honorary member of the Connecticut College Hall of Fame, Jack Cruise first went to work for The Day as a high school correspondent during the Hoover administration. He became the first civilian director of the Coast Guard Academy’s sports information department in 1958, a position he held until he returned to The Day in 1971.
Following his “retirement” in 1979, Cruise continued to write his weekly “Remember” column and covered Connecticut College and Coast Guard athletics.
