Connecticut College Athletic Hall of Fame
Charles R. Stone IV ’08 made his mark as one of the top players in the history of Connecticut College men’s basketball. As a first year in 2004, he made his impact felt immediately, winning the NESCAC Rookie of the Year award. As a three-year captain, Stone helped lead the Camels to conference playoff berths in his sophomore and senior seasons, including a top-25 national ranking in 2007. In his final season, Stone was selected to the All-NESCAC First Team, just the eighth player in program history to earn the distinction. Stone concluded his illustrious collegiate career totaling the fourth-highest points and rebounds totals at the time of his graduation.
Stone graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human development in 2008. During his time at Conn, he was the president of S.O.A.R, a participant of Eclipse and Umoja, and volunteered at the Children’s Center. Following graduation, he continued his basketball career professionally for one season in Denmark and three in France, and he was also a coach for youth teams in both places.
After playing overseas, Stone returned to New York City as a coach and teacher. He has served as physical education teacher and head varsity coach of girl’s volleyball, girl’s softball and assistant varsity coach of boy’s basketball at The Dalton School.
