Glen Miller, the head coach of the Connecticut College men’s basketball program from 1993-1999, put the Camel athletic program into the national spotlight with an unprecedented level of success on the hardwood.

Under Miller’s direction, the Camels made their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1998 when they reached the Sweet 16 round with a 22-4 record. One year later, they soared to the top of national polls with a number one ranking and a perfect 24-0 regular season mark. The squad carried a 27-0 record into the NCAA Final Four round, the furthest advancement in NCAA play of any Connecticut College team.

In just his third season at the helm in 1956-1996, Miller’s Camels posted a record of 18-8, advancing to the semifinal round of the ECAC Championship with their first winning season in six years. In his six seasons at the helm, Miller posted an impressive 95-58 (.621) record for the Camels.

In 2011, the 1998-99 Camels made history as the first team to be inducted into the Connecticut College Athletic Hall of Fame. Two of Miller’s former players also have been inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Kareem Tatum ‘01, an All-American guard who graduated as the all-time leading scorer for the Camels, was inducted in 2007. Zach Smith ‘99, an All-American forward and the program;s all-time leader in blocked shots was enshrined with the Class of 2010.
